Musky, Muskie, or Muskellunge fishing lures and tackle:Muskellunge

Time to get ready for a Mid-west favorite: the "ugly pike" or Musky, Muskie, or Muskellunge - "the fish of ten thousand casts". Fall is prime time for the big musky angler [A1,A2]. Shorter days and colder nights drop water temperatures while sunlight hours wane. This triggers a seasonal reaction in the entire food chain. Musky, who were in deeper waters, may begin to move shallow to become ambusher whereever there are baitfish. Try jerkbaits and crankbaits - perhaps deep diving bait 10 to 20 feet down. Larger MirrOLure, Rapallas, Bombers, and the like are all good. Suick are very popular. A heavy-action, 6-foot, musky casting rod is common. Line is a personal choice but use 30 pound plus if using mono. A steel or other tough leader is the last requirement - 80 pound test plus, 18-24 inch long is common [A1].
